Lady Bulldogs Get 1st Win

The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs basketball teams took on Treutlen County on Friday and then were at Dublin on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs picked up their first win of the year, while the boys dropped both of their games.

The Lady Bulldogs won their first game of the season as they pulled out a close win over the Lady Vikings. Wheeler won the game 52-45. The boys game went to overtime to be decided. Treutlen was on top 25-20 at the end of the first quarter, but Wheeler closed that lead to 40-37 at halftime. In the third Treutlen pushed the lead back out to 6358, but Wheeler came back in the fourth to tie the game at 74-74 to force overtime. In overtime Treutlen pulled out the win, 84-82 over the Bulldogs. vs. Dublin Dublin jumped out to an early lead and won the game over the Lady Bulldogs 59- 25.

In the boys game Dublin led 15-9 at the end of the first, but Wheeler came back in the second to tie the game at 22-22 heading to halftime.

In the third quarter they kept pace as Dublin led by just one point, 3332, heading to the fourth quarter. But in that fourth quarter, the Irish outscored Wheeler 14-2 to win the game 47-34.

This week Wheeler was at Dooly County on Tuesday after presstime and will be back in action as they host Montgomery County on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
