Indians Run In Alabama

Saturday, the Vidalia High School Lady Indians and Indians track teams traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the Last Chance Invitational Indoor Track Meet. The first race of the day was a big one for the ladies 4x800m relay team, consisting of two seniors and two freshmen, Sarah Owen, Kaitlyn Allen, Georgia Meredith and Aidyn Driggers. The girls destroyed the previous school record by running a 10:38 and placing 10th in a very large, competitive field. Other stand out performers at this meet included Andrew Hodges-800m with a personal best time 2:12, Hunter Loosberg- 1,600m with a personal best time 5:22, Luke Palmer-1,600m with a time of 4:54, Chamlee Evans- 3,200m personal best time of 11:59, Kaitlyn Allen- 800m with a personal best time 2:34, Sarah Owen-1,600m nearing her personal best with a time of 5:34, Georgia Meredith-3,200m with a personal best time of 13:00 and Nahvie Berry with a personal best and first time race in the 60m hurdles.

The boys fielded a 4x200m relay with Bryce Davis, Tyran Jacobs, Jahlyn Madison and Brandon Beasley, which placed 10th.

The Indians top placer at this meet with a two foot personal best in the triple jump was Brandon Beasley with a jump of 44' earning a tie for 3rd place and 5th place in long jump with a jump of 21'.

Coach Mandy Godbee said, “I am very pleased with the hard work and results of these athletes. This was a very challenging meet and we are not accustomed to running on an indoor 200m track, but they stepped up huge and competed with some of the best athletes in 3 states. I'm looking forward to a very successful season.”
