Lady Indians had their best free-throw shooting night of the season, shooting 64% from the line, with Carleigh Wardlaw hitting 4 of 4 in the closing stretch.
Boys vs. Bacon
The Vidalia Indians won their 14th straight game on Tuesday night as they rolled by the Bacon County Raiders 58-34 in Alma. The 7th ranked Indians led wire to wire to move to 16-1 on the year and 5-0 in 2AA play. “I think our defense really stymied what they wanted to do,” said Vidalia’s Head Coach Tommy Dalley. After the first quarter, the Indians led 15-6, holding Bacon to just two three-pointers. Vidalia increased their lead to 3113 at the half, but a coldshooting third quarter allowed the Red Raiders to keep it within range, ending the quarter trailing by 14 points. Ty Dalley, who led the way for the Indians, scored 7 of his game-high 14 points in the closing quarter as the Indians outscored the Raiders 16-6 down the stretch to get the win. “I think we controlled the speed of the game, and once we adjusted to what they wanted to do physically, we settled down and played the way we are supposed to.” Bryson Whited, with 3 three-pointers, finished the night with 11 points, while Jacobi Washington and Konner Owens added 9 points each.
Girls vs. Swainsboro
It was a tough night for the Lady Indians as they faced off with the Lady Tigers of Swainsboro. Swainsboro controlled the game from the beginning on their way to a 43-22 win over VHS.
Boys vs. Swainsboro
The boys game was close throughout, but a big fourth quarter for VHS gave them the win. The game was tied early at 6-6, but the Tigers pulled ahead late in the first to hold a 16-13 lead at the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter Dalley put VHS on top with a three-pointer from the wing, 19-18. A three from Konner Owens made it 24-20 late in the half, but the Tigers came back and tied the game at halftime at 28-28.
In the third the lead went back-and-forth, and the score was tied heading to the fourth quarter at 46-46.
In the fourth the Indians were up 55-53, and a big three from Siricco Jones made it 58-53. VHS pulled away late as they outscored Swainsboro 16-9 in the fourth to secure the win, 62-55.
The Indians will have a lighter week as they play just one game each. VHS will host Jeff Davis on Friday with the girls tipping off at 6:00 p.m. with the boys to follow.
