SSAC Scholar Athletes Named

Four Brewton-Parker College student-athletes were recently named to the Southern States Athlete Conference Scholar-Athlete Team presented by Barnes & Noble College. Kadisha Martina, Samuel Figueiro, and Jamair Stewart from the soccer teams, and cross country runner Simon Steele all received the honor for the Barons.

To be eligible, student- athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standing, must be starters or important reserves, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, and have competed in 50% of competitions. Graduate students are not eligible, and transfers must have completed one semester at the school.

Martina

Brewton-Parker Women’s Soccer studentathlete Kadisha Martina was named to the Southern States Athlete Conference Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete Team presented by Barnes & Noble College, conference officials announced on Friday. Martina is listed among the 11 studentathletes across the conference in men's and women's soccer that were honored with the recognition.

Martina earned the honor as a Business Major with a 3.52 GPA at the time of submission. Earlier this season Martina also garnered First-Team All-SSAC, Academic All-SSAC, and SSAC All-Tournament Team honors.

Figueiro & Stewart

Brewton-Parker Men’s Soccer studentathletes Samuel Figueiro and Jamair Stewart were named to the Southern States Athlete Conference Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete Team presented by Barnes & Noble College, conference officials announced on Friday. Figueiro earned the honor as a Biology Major with a Minor in Chemistry. He garnered a 3.8 GPA at the time of submission and was also a Second-Team All-SSAC selection along with earning Academic All-SSAC honors earlier this season.

Stewart picked up the honor as a Business Major with a 3.41 GPA at the time of submission. He was named as a Second-Team All-SSAC selection as well as a Academic All-SSAC selection this season.

Steele

Brewton-Parker Men’s Cross Country student- athlete Simon Steele was named to the Southern States Athlete Conference Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team presented by Barnes & Noble College, conference officials announced on Wednesday.

Steele is listed along with six other studentathletes from across the conference in men's and women's cross country who earned the honor. All seven student-athletes listed held GPAs at 3.6 or better. The junior from Hinesville, Ga., earned the honor with a 3.66 GPA at the time of submission. Steele is studying Business Administration and was also a 2021 SSAC Academic All-Conference selection earlier this season.
