For The Love Of Tennis

Vidalia High School hosted the annual “For the Love of Tennis” tournament Saturday, December 11, with a great turnout. 38 tennis players from the surrounding area participated in the event including a number of players from Vidalia High School. The purpose of the event is to provide opportunities for our local tennis players to gain experience in tournament competition with players from other areas as well as raise funds for the Vidalia High School tennis program. The tournament sponsors were Grandy Creek Timber Company, Jimmy Causey, Lovins and Associates, LLC, and Love Deeply Soaps.

For the adult men the winner was Doyle Leggett of Baxley, with Barry Boone of Dublin in second and Ramon Rondon of Dublin in third. Josie Rodriguez and Doyle Leggett of Vidalia and Baxley were first in adult doubles.

Barry Boone and Judd Green from Dublin were second and Rick Faircloth and Ramon Rondon from Vidalia and Dublin were third. High school girls singles was won by Josie Rodriguez of Vidalia, with Grace Christopher of Blackshear in second and Rebecca Tyre of Blackshear in third.

Cam Lewis of Hazlehurst was first in high school boys singles. Canyon Beck of Vidalia took second place and Trevor Stephenson of Blackshear finished in third place.

High school girls doubles was won by Alli Taufmann and Karle Mc-Donald of Vidalia with Cate Wilcox and Emma Beck of Vidalia taking second place. High school doubles was won by Lexi Girtman and Cam Lewis of Hazlehurst. Sukumar Paidi and Jameson Rolen of Vidalia took second and Grace Christopher and Trevor Stephenson of Blackshear were third. Middle school boys singles was won by Matt Gibbs of Dublin, with Aiden Payne of Dublin in second and Bryce Payne of Dublin in third.
