Toombs Wins Two Games

The Toombs County High School Bulldogs basketball teams split with both of their opponents last week. They faced off with Southeast Bulloch at home on Tuesday with the girls winning in overtime, but the boys falling. Then on Friday they were at Bacon County with the girls falling and the boys getting a win.

Girls vs. SEB

A the end of the first period the Lady Bulldogs were trailing 13-8 to SEB, and they were down 24-17 at halftime. Toombs was down 36-28 at the end of the third period, but in the fourth got some big plays from KayKay Mobley as they came back to tie the game at 47-47 and force overtime. In the overtime period Toombs pulled away to get the win, 54-50 over the Yellow Jackets.

TCHS was led by Mobley with 20 points and Alexa Ledford added 15 points in the win.

Boys vs. SEB

The boys kept it close in the first half of the game. It was tied 10-10 after the first, and the Bulldogs trailed 24-23 at halftime. But in the third period SEB pulled away and were on top 46-32 heading to the fourth. SEB went on to win the game 64-48 over TCHS. Toombs was led by Dominic Eason with 11 points.

Girls vs. Bacon

Against Bacon County the Lady Bulldogs played well, but fell just short. Bacon was on top 20-13 in the second period. Toombs closed that to 24-18, but in the third period they were on top 33-23. Bacon went on to win the game 58-49.

Boys vs. Bacon

Bacon led 15-13 at the end of the first, but Toombs came back in the second to lead 29-27 at halftime. In the third Bacon came back to take the lead 38-37 over the Bulldogs. But in the fourth Toombs outscored the Raiders 15-11 to take the win, 52-49.

Toombs was led by Eason with 16 points and Jesus Quintero with 11 points in the win.

This week Toombs faced Jeff Davis on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at Swainsboro at 6:30 p.m. and then on Saturday will be back at home to face Montgomery County at 5:00 p.m.
