Notre Dame Gets Spivey

Caden Spivey of Vidalia High School has signed to play baseball for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He signed his letter of intent on Thursday of last week in the VHS auditorium.

Spivey is a standout pitcher for the Indians and can throw over 90 mph. He has pitched 78 innings and record 95 strikeouts with an ERA of just 1.361. He has a 7-2 record with 2 saves. At the plate he has a career average of .250 wth 24 hits, 5 doubles, and 12 RBI's and 21 runs scored. Spivey was selected as the 2021 Region 2AA Pitcher of the Year, and was on the Georgia Dugout Club's 2021 1st Team All State.

Spivey said, “Really excited for this. This is just a day that you dream about. I am ready to get up there and start working. I have to thank my dad who always pushes me to do my best, all of my family, Coach Korn for all he has done to make me better, my travel ball coaches, just everyone that has been there and supported me.”

Stacy Spivey, his father, added, “We couldn't be more proud of him or happy for him. A guy told me early on in this recruiting process if Notre Dame comes, how do you say no. We are super excited for Caden and all of the rest of the players that have signed with him. We are learning to become Notre Dame fans. They are just first class all the way around and look forward to what is going to come.”

Coach Korn stated, “He just has that big time arm. He is the type of guy you rarely get in high school that can just come in a dominate a game and get 14 or 15 outs from strikeouts in a game. He is a high character kid that works hard. It is a big thing to go to Notre Dame, and that speaks volumes about him. We are excited to see what he can do.”
