VHS Cross Country Takes 2nd

Toombs County High School hosted the Region 2AA Cross Country Championship on Thursday of last week. The Indians battled through cold wet conditions bringing home 2nd place finishes for the girls and boys teams.

Boys

The results for the boys were as follows: Jeff Davis – 21 points, Vidalia – 38 points, East Laurens – 92 points. Daniel Hodges had the best race of his career and finished 2nd with a huge personal best time of 17:27, Andrew Hodges placed 6th with a personal best as well- 17:53, Luke Palmer placed 9th-18:28, Jude Owen placed 10th with a personal best of 18:34, and Chamlee Evans placed 11th, also with a personal best-18:41. These young men ran extremely well and continue to improve each and every week.

Girls

The girls results are as follows: Jeff Davis – 27 points, Vidalia – 28 points., Toombs County – 84 points. Sarah Owen led the Lady Indians with a 2nd place finish and a time of 20:27, Georgia Meredith placed 4th with a personal best time of 21:43, Kaitlyn Allen placed 5th with a time of 21:47, Allie Whitaker placed 8th with a time of 23:45, Aleah Ajodah placed 9th with a time of 23:55 and Deserae Lumley placed 15 with the biggest personal best of the day- 26:05. The ladies had big hopes of winning this Championship and fought hard throughout the entire race. Jeff Davis nudged them out by just one point. While they are a bit disappointed, these ladies have their sights set on the State Championship on November 5 in Carrollton as they look to make the podium.


Daniel Hodges ran his best race ever as he came in second place at the Region Meet.
