Dublin Wins Over Treutlen

The Treutlen County High School Vikings football team hosted the Irish of Dublin last Friday night. They kept it close in the first half but the Irish pulled away in the second half for the victory.

Dublin got on the board first with a touchdown, and then scored another in the first quarter as they took a 13-0 lead over the Vikings. Early in the second quarter they extended that lead to 16-0 with a 37yard field goal with nine minutes left in the half.

Treutlen put their first points on the board with 7:30 left in the half on a 73-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Coney to Tim Blair. They missed the extra point, but that closed the lead to 16-6. Treutlen closed it to 1612 with just 20 seconds to go in the half as they drove the ball down the field and capped it off with a 1-yard pass from Coney to Blair. They tried for two but could not get in.

In the second half of the game things took a turn as the Dublin offense found their groove. Treutlen fumbled the opening kickoff of the half with Dublin recovering with great field position. Just a few plays later they were in the end zone as they increased their lead to 22-12.

Dublin could not be stopped in the second half of the game as they added touchdowns of 69 yards, 26 yards, 13 yards, and 9 yards, on their way to a 54-12 win over the Vikings.

This week will be homecoming for Treutlen as they host the Bobcats of Dooly County. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. in Soperton.
