the life of a Uvalda man. Mark Shane Adams, 53, succumbed at the scene from injures sustained in the mishap.

A release from the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office reported that based on preliminary evidence, it appears that Adams was traveling north on Old Normantown Road and continued straight as he was approaching Buck Road. Apparently, Adams ran the stop sign at the intersection and impacted a tree. First responders with the Toombs County Fire Department had to extricate Adams from the vehicle. The accident has been turned over to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) for further investigation.

A Toombs County Sheriff’s Deputy enroute to the wreck was injured when his patrol car left Old Normantown Road and rolled over around 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Deputy Coursey was flown by helicopter to Memorial Hospital in Savannah where he was in stable condition Monday. The accident has been turned over to the GSP for investigation. “We ask that you keep Deputy Coursey and his family in your prayers,” said Captain Jordan Kight of the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office.
