Wheeler Wins Over Dublin

Last week the Wheeler County High School Lady Bulldogs softball team took on Dublin on Monday, Wilcox County on Tuesday, and Hawkinsville on Wednesday as they begin to wrap up their regular season. They have just one game left, against Johnson County on Tuesday of this week.

vs. Dublin

Wheeler rolled over the Lady Irish of Dublin at home on Monday of last week. Dublin did take the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but Wheeler bounced back with three runs in the third inning to jump into the lead.

Dublin came back with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, but four runs for Wheeler in the fifth put them back on top 7-3. Wheeler plated four more in the sixth inning on the way to an 11-3 win over the Irish.

Wheeler was led by Ariel Reynolds with 4 RBI's in the game. Makenzie Scott and Gracie Home also had an RBI each. Alli Hartley got the win for Wheeler in the circle. vs. Wilcox

Against the Lady Partiots of Wilcox on Tuesday in Alamo, Wheeler struggled to get anything going on offense as they fell in four innings. Wilcox scored four runs in the top of the first inning, and added three more in the second to lead 7-0. The Patriots added four more runs in the third and four in the fourth as they took the win, 15-0.

vs. Hawkinsville

It was another tough game for Wheeler as they traveled to Hawkinsville on Wednesday. The Red Devils put four on the board in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead. Wheeler managed a run in the top of the second inning, but eight runs by Hawkinsville in the bottom of the frame put them in control, 12-1. Hawkinsville held on to win the game by that score in four innings. Marcy Delgado had the only RBI of the game for Wheeler. Wheeler is now 9-9 overall and they are 8-7 in Region play. This week they wrapped up the regular season on Tuesday after presstime with a game against Johnson County in Wrightsville.
