Bulldogs Fall To Dublin

The Bulldogs of Wheeler County High School are currently ranked 25th in the state in Class A Public, and last week they hosted the #7 ranked Irish of Dublin. The Bulldogs gave them a good game but came up just one score short. Both teams found the end zone once in the first quarter of the game, the difference was that Dublin made their extra point, and Wheeler did not convert on the two-point conversion. That made the score at the end of the first, 7-6, with Dublin out in front. In the second quarter the Irish extended their lead with a touchdown and a field goal. The Bulldogs of Wheeler also found the end zone once in the second quarter and they added on the twopoint conversion. That made the score going into halftime, 17-14, with Dublin just out in front.

Dublin added a score in the third quarter of the game to push the lead to 24-14. In the fourth each team again found the end zone one time. Dublin missed their extra point while Wheeler converted the two-point try. That made the final score of the game 30-22, with Dublin taking the win over Wheeler.

Wheeler is continuing to improve and it showed against a very tough Irish squad. Wheeler is now 2-1 on the season. This week they will travel to face the Bobcats of Dooly County on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
