Season Opener For VHS Softball

The Vidalia High School Indians softball team kicked off their new season with a tournament in Grovetown. VHS played two games and picked up wins in both of them. This year they are under a new Head Coach, but a familiar name to VHS athletics with Ben Beck taking over the reins.

VHS vs. Evans

The first game of the season for VHS was against the Knights of Evans at Patriots Park in Grovetown. It was a close game, but the Indians pulled out the win, 5-3.

VHS vs. Harlem

Up next for Vidalia was Harlem. VHS took the early lead with a run in the bottom of the second inning. The Indians added two more in the fourth and then another in the fifth as they built up a 4-0 lead. Harlem finally got on the board with a run in the top of the seventh inning, but VHS held them off to get the win, 4-1.

Bailey Holland got the win in the circle for VHS with 11 strikeouts. Holland and Emma Vinson led the way at the plate with two hits each.

This week the Indians were at ECI on Tuesday after presstime, and will be back in action on Thursday when they host Statesboro at 5:45 p.m. On Saturday the Indians will travel to Georgia College to take on Burke County and Pike County with games at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
