The Vidalia High School track programs made a big statement last Thursday, capturing both the girls and boys Region 2AA Titles at East Laurens. The Lady Indians scored 215 points, outdistancing Swainsboro by 104 points. The Indians also lapped the field with 215 points, beating Swainsboro by 110 points. Vidalia also had both the girls and the boys High Point Performer, with Sarah Owen taking the girls title with 32 points and Michael Madison scoring 25 points to take the boys title.

Both teams had several individuals set Personal Records, with Hayden Williamson tying a school record in the High Jump with a leap of 5’ 2″.

The top four finishers in each event qualify for the State Sectionals, which are set for Saturday, May 8 at East Laurens, with events beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Girls

Owen finished in 1st in the 800m, 1,600m, and the 3,200m runs and was also a part of the relay teams. Myesha Hall was 1st in the long jump, 1st in the 200m dash, and 2nd in the triple jump. Jasmine Smith took 1st in the shot put and was 1st in the discus. Kyleigh Johnson was 1st in the 300m hurdles and was 2nd in the 100m hurdles. Hayden Williamson was 1st in the high jump and tied the school record, and was 3rd in the triple jump.

Kaitlyn Allen finished 2nd in the 800m run, was 2nd in the 1,600m run, and took 3rd in the 3,200m run. Samara Troupe was 2nd in the 100m dash. Tymber Harris was 3rd in the 800m run, Jakerra McRae was 3rd in the 300m hurdles, Treyunna Roundtree was 3rd in the long jump, Diamond Cook finished 3rd in the shot put, and Allie Whitaker was 4th in the 1,600m run.

The 4x100m relay team of Troupe, Roundtree, Moriah Wardlaw, and Johnson came in 2nd place. The 4x400m team of Wardlaw, Johnson, Owen, and Hall took 2nd place, and the 4x800m team of Harris, Whitaker, Janna Hyers, and Allen finished in 1st place.

Boys

Madison was the top earner for the VHS boys as he was 1st in the 100m and 200m dashes, along with being on relay teams. Luke Palmer finished in 1st in the 1,600m and in the 3,200m runs. Cameron Glasper was 1st in the 300m hurdles, and 2nd in the high jump. Jaylin Burns was 1st in the shot put. Hunter Manning was 1st in the pole vault.

Jace Gabbard was 2nd in the 1,600m run. Nahvie Berry took 2nd in the 110m hurdles. Brandon Beasley took 2nd in the long jump and was 3rd in the triple jump. Kaylan Johnson was 2nd in the triple jump and 4th in the long jump.

Andrew Hodges was 3rd in the 3,200m run and was 4th in 800m. Marquell Maddleton was 3rd in the 400m. Tre Adams took 3rd in the 300m hurdles. Matt Hill was 3rd in the long jump and was 4th in the triple jump. Jordan Powell was 4th in the 100m, Josh Mincey was 4th in the 400m, Hunter Loosberg was 4th in the 3,200m, and Zack Howard was 4th in the shot put.

The 4x100m relay team of Madison, Williams, Powell, and Tyran Jacobs finished in 1st place. The 4x400m team of Middleton, Mincey, Williams, and Madison also took 1st place. And the 4x800m team of Andrew Hodges, Daniel Hodges, Gabbard, and Palmer also finished with a 1st place.
