The Montgomery County High School Eagles hosted the Region Track Meet last week at their new facility. It was a good day for the Eagles as the boys won their sixth Region Championship in a row and the girls also won the Region Championship.

The girls scored 192 points with 2nd place Hawkinsville scoing 132. The boys dominated with 200 points to 2nd place Dublin's 105.


In the 100m dash Jabrayla Coglin took 3rd place with Zakhia Lawhorne finishing in 5th. In the 200m Emeral James was 2nd and Jocelyn Heggs finished 6th. For the 400m MaKyla Bell was 1st with James taking 2nd, and Jada Ricks coming in 5th. In the 100m hurdles Ashmira Moye was 6th, and Akilah Melvin was 8th. In the 300m hurdles Marley was took the top spot, and Moye was 6th. In the 800m run Tressa Brantley finished in 3rd place. In the 1,600m Rebecca Dominquez took 1st place, with Jordan Hudson in 6th and Travisty Padgett in 7th. Dominquez also was 1st in the 3,200m run. The 4x100m relay team of Bell, Coglin, James, and Lawhorne came in 1st place. The 4x400m team of Bell, Ricks, Moye, and Coglin also finished in 1st place. In the 4x800m relay MCHS was 3rd with the team of Harley Kight, Jade Kight, Brantley, and Dominguez. James was 1st in the high jump with Marley Bell taking 2nd. MCHS's Dominquez took the top spot in the pole vault with Padgett coming in 2nd. Marley Bell also won the long jump, while Coglin was 4th and Lawhorne was 5th. In the triple jump MaKyla Bell was 2nd and Marley Bell was 3rd. Jaliya Moore won the shot put and Zaire Nobles was 5th.


For the MCHS boys Brandon Demmark took the top spot in the 100m dash, with NiShawn Wise in 4th and Javeon Telfair in 6th. Denmark was also 2nd in the 200m dash, and Wise was 4th. In the 400m Demorrius Brooker was 3rd, Samari Madison was 4th, and Ahmad Carter was 6th. Xavier Brantley won the 110m hurdles with Da'lan Fields taking 4th. Brantley also won the 300m hurdles and Fields again came in 4th. Kelvin Williams was 4th in the 800m run, and Calvin Williams was 5th. Jeremy Mathis was 5th in the 1,600m run, and in the 3,200m run Gregory Rau was 4th and Mathis was 5th. The 4x100m relay team of Wise, Denmark, Fields, and Madison finished 1st. MCHS was also 1st in the 4x400m relay with Wise, Brooker, Carter, and Denmark. The 4x800m team of Williams, Williams, Mathis, and Rau took 2nd place.

In the field events Brantley won the high jump with Kaland Brazell in 2nd and Darius Wells in 5th. MCHS also won the pole vault with Jackson Cartwright in 1st and Wise finished 3rd. In the long jump Denmark was 5th and Madison was 7th. Brantley won the triple jump and Carter was 2nd. In the shot put Taliek Jackson took 3rd. Jacob Carpenter was 4th in the discus and Juan Balladares was 7th.
