VHS Tennis Beats Toombs
The Vidalia High School tennis teams hosted their rival, the Toombs County High School Bulldogs on Thursday of last week and had a good showing, winning all but one match. Over the weekend the Indians also took on Claxton and Screven County.
Girls vs. Toombs
The Lady Indians rolled over the Lady Bulldogs as they won all five of their matches. That improved the girls record to 6-1 on the year and kicked off the Region schedule with a win. Alli Taufmann won her match 6-2, 6-3 at #1 singles, and at #2 singles Karle McDonald took her match 6-2, 6-2. Bess Wilcox won 6-1, 6-0 at #3 singles. At #1 doubles the team of Madali Winn and Jesslyn Collins won 6-0, 6-4. At #2 doubles the team of Emma Beck and Emma Vinson won 6-1, 6-0 over the TCHS #2 team.
Boys vs. Toombs
The VHS boys also won over Toombs. Brycen Coleman took his #1 singles match 6-2, 6-2 to get things going for VHS. Danny Richardson won at #2 singles 6-2, 6-4. At #1 doubles Kaine Parham and Canyon Beck won 6-3, 6-2, and at #2 doubles the team of Sukumar Paidi and Jameson Rolen won 6-4, 6-4.
vs. Claxton
In the girls match against Claxton, VHS took the win 4-1. In singles matches McDonald won her match 6-0, 6-1, and Bess Wilcox won 6-1, 6-1. In doubles the team of Collins and Madall Winn won 6-0, 6-2, and Beck and Vinxon won their match 6-0, 6-3. The boys also won their match 3-1. Coleman won his match 6-2, 6-2. Beck and Parham won in doubles 6-1, 6-2, and Jameson Rolen and Paidi won by forfeit.
vs. Screven
Vidalia lost to Screven 1-3 in the boys match and lost 0-3 in girls matches. For the boys, Parham and Beck won at #1 doubles 6-2, 6-3. This week the Indians will host Jeff Davis on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. and will be at the Granger Tournament on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
