MCHS Falls Short To Telfair

The Eagles football team of Montgomery County High School were at Telfair County last Friday night for a Region contest. MCHS kept it close, but Telfair came out on top, winning the game by just three points. Telfair got on the board first with a touchdown in the first quarter of the game. They added the two-point conversion to go ahead 8-0 on the Eagles. In the second quarter an interception by Samari Madison set up a touchdown for the Eagles.Just a few plays after the pick, quarterback Bo Davidson hit Xavier Bratley on a 31-yard touchdown pass with Brantley breaking two tackles to get into the end zone. The two-point conversion was good, and MCHS tied the game at 8-8. Telfair took the lead back in the second, but missed the extra point try. They led 14-8 over the Eagles. They added one more score in the first half to take a 22-8 lead. As time ran out in the first half MCHS's Mario Ortega hit a 34-yard field goal to close the halftime score to 22-11. That kick was set up by a big 50-yard run by Denmark.

MCHS added one more touchdown in the fourth quarter on an 80-yard touchdown pass from Davidson to Brandon Denmark. They again got the two-point conversion, but fell in the game 22-19. Davidson had 135 yards passing with Denmark pulling in 96 receiving yards and 57 rushing yards. This week MCHS will be on the road at Baconton Charter with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
