Bullpups Into Semifinals

The Toombs County Middle School football team has advanced to the semifinals of the Region Playoffs. Toombs hosted Metter in the quarterfinals on Thursday of last week in The Pit and rolled over the Tigers to remain undefeated, 6-0, on the season.

Toombs easily won over Metter by the score of 38-0. Quarterback LaGonza Hayward led the team with 153 total yards and 2 touchdowns on offense, and added a 45yard punt return for a score as well. Running back Brandon Smith added 44 yards and a touchdown.

Justin Powell led the defense with 8 tackles, and Mike Polk intercepted two passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown. Place kicker Tucker Broadnax was a perfect 5-5 on PAT’s on the night, and added a field goal from 30 yards out.

The 6-0 Bullpups will host Metter again this Thursday in the semifinals of the Region playoffs. Kickoff will be at 5:00 p.m. in The Pit.
