Three Wins For Lady Dogs

The Wheeler County High School Lady Bulldogs softball team picked up two wins last week. They rolled over Montgomery County on Tuesday at home and defeated Wilcox County in a close game on Wednesday. On Monday of this week the Bulldogs took on Metter and came away with the win.

Wheeler vs. MCHS

Wheeler rolled to a win as they put nine runs on the board in the first inning. Wheeler added four more in the second and two in the third to win the game by the run rule over the Lady Eagles.

Logan Harrelson led the way for Wheeler with 5 RBI's. Emily Conner got the win for Wheeler in the circle.

Wheeler vs. Wilcox

It was a close game for the Bulldogs as they held off Wilcox at home on Wednesday. Wheeler got on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Wilcox bounced back with three in the top of the third to take the lead 3-2.

The Bulldogs tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the frame, and then took the lead back in the fifth inning with a run to make the score 4-3. Wheeler scored two more in the sixth inning for a 6-3 lead. Wilcox picked up a run in the top of the seventh inning to close the lead to 6-4, but Wheeler shut them down to get the win.

Conner again got the win for Wheeler and had 11 strikeouts in the game. Kaleiyah Harris had 3 hits for Wheeler.

Wheeler vs. Metter

Wheeler played Metter at home on Monday of this week. The game was scoreless until the third inning when Metter scored two runs to take the lead. Wheeler answered in the bottom of the fourth inning with three runs to jump into a 3-2 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs added three more in the sixth inning for a bit of a cushion with a 6-2 lead. They needed it as Metter scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but with the lead Wheeler took the win, 6-4.

With the three wins Wheeler is now 9-1 on the year and are 4-0 in Region play.

On Tuesday Wheeler was at Treutlen County after presstime, and will play again on Thursday at home against Hawkinsville at 5:30 p.m.
