LETTER TO THE EDITOR Keep It Clean is Working Dear Sir: Saturday morning, I joined a number of other volunteers to pick up litter for an hour. I have enjoyed each time I’ve participated. Later that day, I drove from one side of Vidalia to the other and when I arrived at my destination, I noticed that I did not see a single piece of litter. This reinforced the conclusion I had reached that our city is just cleaner than it was six months ago. I want to commend the mayor, the city manager, and the Keep It Clean Volunteers for what they accomplished. Six months ago, I was a little skeptical that no amount of effort would make a dent in the scourge of litter. I was wrong. I encourage everyone to volunteer, take part in this wonderful project. Also, if you see a piece of litter, PLEASE pick it up. It’s good for you. A GROUP EFFORT – During the Georgia Recovery-Ready Workplace Initiative (GROW), employers, recovery organizations, and leaders across Georgia will come together to help develop and strengthen recovery-friendly workplace practices that can serve communities throughout the state. The City of Lyons began this process last week, when several city representatives, Gardens of Hope Recovery Community Organization leaders, and Initiative partners met to discuss the project.
