On October 14, the Mt. Vernon Garden Club hosted an inspiring and refreshing meeting, as Brewton-Parker Christian University Psychology Professor and Lead Mental Health Counselor Dusty Arnold spoke to members about mental health.

Arnold discussed both plants and mental health during his program, as he explained that nurturing nature can help individuals to nurture themselves. Members especially enjoyed the thoughtful tip sheet Arnold provided, linking common household plants with gentle reminders to slow down, show kindness to themselves, and find peace in the simple act of tending to living things. The meeting was hosted by Garden Club Members Zan Adams, Angel Gilreath, and Maureen Reynolds, who truly captured the spirit of the season with a beautiful autumn theme and a delicious harvest-inspired menu – complete with pumpkin pie!

It was a lovely afternoon of learning, laughter, and friendship – the perfect blend of wellness and nature that reminds members why they love being part of the Mt. Vernon Garden Club.

CELEBRATING AUTUMN – The Mt. Vernon Garden Club also celebrated autumn during their meeting, as they indulged in a harvest-inspired lunch.
