Vidalia High School’s baseball program is celebrating a huge moment as two of its stars have signed letters of intent to continue their baseball careers in college. Veer Patel will be taking his talents to Mercer University, while Cayden Nance is headed to the University of West Georgia.
Veer Patel Signs with Mercer University Veer Patel, a four-year varsity letterman, has committed to play at Mercer University. Throughout his high school career, Veer distinguished himself as one of the region’s top performers. He earned 2x All-Region honors and was named to the 2025 Georgia Dugout Club All-State Team.
During his junior season, Veer batted an impressive .379 with a .548 onbase percentage, hitting five home runs and driving in 34 RBIs. He led the team in virtually every offensive category, including batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, doubles, home runs, and RBIs.
Veer also excelled on the mound, posting a 7-3 record while pitching 66.1 innings with a 1.89 ERA and 79 strikeouts. His season included a no-hitter in the Sweet 16 against Social Circle, highlighting his dual-threat talent as both a hitter and a pitcher. Cayden Nance Signs with University of West Georgia Cayden Nance, a twoyear varsity letterman, has signed with the University of West Georgia. Cayden was a 1st Team All-Region selection as a junior, batting .288 with a .420 onbase percentage. He led the team in triples and runs scored, ranking in the top three on the team in ten offensive categories.
Vidalia High School Head Baseball Coach Ben Beck was very complimentary of both Patel and Nance.
“It’s fitting that these two young men should sign letters of intent together today, “ Beck said. “They have proven that to reach this level, it takes more than just the talent you’re born with- you have to have an incredible work ethic. They have spent countless hours working on their game, and it shows. But beyond that, they exhibit the character traits that we value so much at Vidalia High School. They exemplify Indian Pride. They show a commitment to baseball, their school work and their teammates. They lead by example. They show excellence on and off the field. They are accountable to their teammates and themselves. They are mentally tough, and they serve their team, their families, and their community. Those are traits that will serve them, not only on the baseball field, but will be amplified in the future when they become productive members of this community, husbands, and fathers.”
