Big Week For TCHS Basketball

The Toombs County High School Bulldog basketball teams were busy last week as the girls played 2 games and the boys played 3. The Lady Bulldogs split their games with Tattnall County and Jeff Davis, while the boys won all three of their games. The boys are currently ranked #4 in the state.

Girls Girls vs. Tattnall The Lady Bulldogs faced a tough challenge against Tattnall County, struggling to keep pace with the opposition's high-powered offense. Toombs County ultimately fell in the matchup with a final score of 66-28. Despite the result, the team's commitment to playing hard throughout the full 4 quarters remains evident.

Girls vs. Jeff Davis

Bouncing back from the tough loss, the Lady Bulldogs found their rhythm against Jeff Davis. The team’s defense tightened up, holding the Yellow Jackets to just 31 points, allowing the Toombs offense to secure a decisive victory, 47-31.

Boys

The Toombs County boys' team secured 3 victories on the week.

Boys vs. Tattnall

In the definition of a low-scoring defensive struggle, the Bulldogs opened their week with a thrilling 39-38 win over Tattnall County. The game was tight from the jump, with Toombs trailing 7-6 after the first quarter before managing to pull ahead 17-14 by halftime.

The Bulldogs appeared to take firm control by the end of the third, leading 3324, but Tattnall mounted a fierce comeback attempt in the final quarter. The Bulldogs held their composure in the frantic final moments, clinging to the 1-point victory.

Parker Stanley led the scoring effort for Toombs County with 11 points.

Boys vs. Metter

Up next were the Tigers of Metter, and the Bulldogs offense found its rhythm. Toombs County dominated the game from start to finish, cruising to a comfortable 68-40 win. The scoring was distributed well among the starters: Cornelius Bullard led the way with 16 points, Qwan Monroe added 14 points, and Tucker Braddy rounded out the high-scoring trio with 13 points.

Boys vs. Bacon Co.

The boys closed out their undefeated week against Bacon County. The Bulldogs delivered a punishing defensive performance in the opening minutes, jumping out to a massive 17-2 lead in the first quarter. They maintained that double- digit advantage throughout, leading 30-15 at the half and 44-18 after the third quarter. Toombs County finished the game with a commanding 58-44 win, capping off a stellar 3-0 week that proved their worthiness of the state's top ranks.

Both the boys and girls played on Monday of this week after presstime, as they wrapped up the Jeff Davis Tip-Off Tournament. The girls faced off with Ware County and the boys took on Turner County. Both teams will be back in action after the Thanksgiving break.
