Optim Medical Center-Tattnall appoints Melanie Fitzgibbon as Chief Administrative Officer

Optim Health System has named Melanie Fitzgibbon chief administrative officer of Optim Medical Center-Tattnall, effective Sept. 2.

Fitzgibbon brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to the role. She began her career in 2003 as an operating room surgical technologist and holds degrees in both nursing and surgical technology. Over the course of her career, she has held positions including RN circulator, charge nurse, OR manager, surgical services director, director of OR operations and supply chain oversight.

She is known for building collaborative teams, fostering innovation and keeping patient care at the center of every decision.

“It’s a privilege to lead at a hospital that’s known for clinical excellence and innovation,” Fitzgibbon said. “I look forward to building on that strong foundation and helping Optim Medical Center-Tattnall continue to grow and serve the region.”

Fitzgibbon advanced through multiple leadership positions at HCA, where she completed formal development programs and was named West Florida’s Nurse of the Year in 2018. She joined Optim Health System in 2020 and has since held several leadership roles. Most recently, she served as regional ASC administrator for Optim Surgery Center in Savannah, Ga., and Premier Surgery Center in Brunswick, Ga., where she led initiatives to improve clinical outcomes, expand patient access and enhance operational performance across multiple facilities.

Fitzgibbon has relocated to the greater Reidsville area, underscoring her commitment to the community and to Optim Medical Center-Tattnall’s continued growth.
