The 2nd Annual Lip Sync Battle will hit the stage at Southeastern Technical College at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, as twelve teams compete for the Golden Hair Brush and to raise money for local charities.
This event is held by the Altama Museum of Art and History, and serves as a fundraiser for the organization. During the event, each group – which features local community members – performs to help raise money for their selected charities. Judges comment and rate each performance, while the audience votes monetarily through donations for their favorite performers. The event crowns both a Lip Sync Battle Champion and a People’s Choice Champion, whose charity takes home 10% of the total donations collected for the night.
Last year, Gardens of Hope Recovery Community Organization (RCO) took home the Golden Hairbrush and the title of Lip Sync Battle Champion, while Responsive Technology Partners and Pineland Telephone Cooperative collaborated as “The Secure Connections,” and were awarded the People’s Choice Champion. Over $16,000 was raised through the event, and $1,600 was given to the Boys & Girls Club of Toombs County, which was The Secure Connection’s selected charity.
