TRAGEDY FOLLOWS TRAGEDY - In the wake of the recent hurricane that devastated homes in the area, a family endures a different tragedy. Residents of a home on Barksdale Drive in Vidalia lost everything in a fire shortly after dark on Friday. The home was a complete loss, and fortunately, due to the quick thinking of two sisters aged 10 and 12, everyone inside the home was evacuated to safety including several dogs and cats. According to one of the sisters, the fire originated in the playroom. Upon seeing the flames, the young siblings woke up the sleeping adult residents, gathered the pets and made it safely out of the structure before it was totally engulfed in flames.
