REACHING FOR THE STARS — A crew from Maximcrane in Savannah was recently in Vidalia to assist in the upgrade of cellular antennas located at the top of the 235 foot tall Bellsouth tower on Second Street in downtown. The massive crane weighs in at 135,000 pounds and can extend its reach 285 feet. The crane is capable of lifting a whopping 135 tons of material, but in this application, the payload was only about 100 pounds lifted to an installation crew at the top of the tower.
