Robert Toombs Christian Academy's soccer season is gearing up after many of the athletes just finished their basketball season at State. The Lady Crusaders' soccer season opened on the road against Covenant Christian on Monday, March 6.

Right on the heels of a tough Final Four basketball loss the Wednesday prior, the girls haven't had much practice time together before their first game. Despite a 1-4 loss, the Lady Crusaders hope to have a solid season this year. Senior Amily Mixon scored the Lady Crusaders' only goal in the contest.

The RTCA Crusaders hosted Trinity Christian on Tuesday, March 7. The Trinity Christian Crusaders from Dublin are not an easy opponent for a season opener. The final score was 8-0, Trinity. The RTCA Crusaders were State Runner- ups last year and hope to be in the fight again this year.

Head Soccer Coach Matt Meeks said, “The results of the first games did not go the way we wanted them to. In spite of only having two full team practices before each game, there were many positive things to take from each game. Possession of the ball, movement of players on and off the ball, and team communication were areas that were much improved from last season. We expect both the boys and girls teams to continue to be more competitive after each practice and game that we have. These teams have goals that they want to accomplish this year and I know we can achieve them.'
