BPC Wrestles At Conference

Brewton-Parker College's women’s wrestling traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky on Friday to take on the Mid-South Conference Championship. The Lady Barons finished fifth out of 10 teams with 93 team points. BPC produced eight total placements, highlighted by Leidaly Rivera’s first-place finish in the 136lb division.
Rivera swept her division with a 3-0 record on the day notching a tech fall win over Phoenix Waters (Siena Heights) in the quarterfinal, followed by a semifinal pin over Taylor Howell (Campbellsville) and a 4-2 decision over Aliyah Yates (Cumberlands) in the championship bout.
India Page earned a podium finish in the 155lb division with a second- place finish. She opened with a tech fall win over Grace Doering (Indiana Tech) before following up with a tech fall over Sierra Chavez (Campbellsville) in the semifinals. In the championship bout, Page fell to Latifah McBryde (Life) in a tech fall.
Katelyn Lewis placed third at 170, producing a 3-1 record on the day. Lewis opened with a tech fall loss to Liliana Vergara (Campbellsville) before responding with threestraight pins over Bailey Hackett (Lourdes), Bo Geibe (Siena Heights), and Jessie Lee (Life) to claim a podium placement.
Alesandra Burgos produced a fourth-place finish at 116 with a 1-2 record. She fell to an opening round 8-5 decision before responding with a 2-1 decision in the consolation semis. In the third-place match, she fell to a 6-3 decision. Jamesa Robinson also competed in the 116 division and placed fifth finishing with a 1-2 record, highlighted by a tech fall win in the fifth-place match.
Madisyn Blackburn finished fifth at 136 producing pins in the consolation third round and in the fifth-place match. Migdalys Ramos finished fifth at 143 with a 2-2 record, gathering a pin in the consolation third round and a 5-1 decision in the fifth-place match.
Elora Waterman wrapped up the Lady Barons with placements, earning a sixth-place finish in the 101 division. Waterman produced a pin in the third round of consolation matches to highlight her 1-3 record on the day.
Gabriela Galvez, Nicole Chandler, and Sierra Hartfelder also competed for BPC in Bowling Green.
Brewton-Parker will now prepare for NAIA Women’s National Championship in Jamestown, N.C. on March 10-11.
