RTCA Falls To SAA Jaguars

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders baseball team dropped their only contest of the week, falling 11-6 to the visiting Savannah Athletic Association Jaguars last Monday.

The Jaguars jumped out to a quick advantage, plating three runs in the top of the first inning. RTCA managed to answer with a run in the bottom half of the frame to cut the deficit to 3-1, but Savannah's offense proved difficult to contain early on.

A tough top of the third inning ultimately put the game out of reach for the Crusaders, as the Jaguars pushed across six runs to extend their lead to 9-1. RTCA showed some resilience in the bottom of the inning, driving in two runs to make it a 9-3 game. However, Savannah continued to steadily add to their total with a single run in the fifth and another in the sixth, pushing the score to 11-3.

RTCA kept fighting in the late innings, scratching across a run in the sixth and adding two more in the seventh before the rally fell short in the 11-6 defeat. Anderson Moore and Brittan Tabor provided the offensive highlights for the Crusaders, leading the team with two RBIs each on the afternoon.

The nonregion loss drops RTCA to 5-9 overall on the season. However, the Crusaders remain a perfect 3-0 in region play. They look to defend that unblemished region record this week against Citizens Christian in a critical three-game series. Game one took place in Lyons on Tuesday after presstime, with the series concluding in a road doubleheader on Thursday starting at 4:00 p.m.
