Vidalia High Tennis Sweeps Savannah Christian


The Vidalia High School tennis teams played well last week as they took 2 win from Savannah Christian. Both the boys' and girls' squads walked away with impressive 4-1 wins, driven by standout performances from senior leaders and a dramatic finish to cap off the evening.
Girls
On the girls' side, the team was anchored by a strong showing from their upperclassmen. Senior Laylah Brantley set the tone at first singles, dispatching her opponent in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The momentum continued in doubles play, where the senior duo of Sadie Berry and Deidra Boston captured a commanding 6-3, 6-2 win at first doubles.
Elizabeth Sowell delivered a flawless performance at second singles, sweeping her match 6-0, 6-0. The second doubles team of Annalyn Helms and Isabella Royal rounded out the team's dominant scoring with a solid 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Boys
The boys' team mirrored that success with decisive singles play and a thrilling doubles finish. Seniors Caleb Beck and Larsen Carter dismantled their opponents, winning 6-2, 6-1 and a flawless 6-0, 6-0, respectively. Stone Smith was equally untouchable at third singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of his own.
The absolute highlight of the evening came from the first doubles team of Cooper McCallum and Sam Varn. The pair dug deep to deliver a dramatic, come-from-behind tiebreaker victory, sealing the final match of the night with a hardfought 10-7 win to finalize the sweep for Vidalia.
