The Toombs County High School golf team competed in the Dynamite Goodloe Invitational, hosted by Valdosta High School at Valdosta Country Club. Battling cold and windy conditions throughout the day, the Bulldogs finished seventh overall with a team score of 350.

Weather played a major role in scoring across the field, as gusting winds and low temperatures made Valdosta Country Club a tough test. Despite the challenging conditions, Toombs County gained valuable early-season experience against strong competition.

Vick Moore led the Bulldogs with a round of 85. Gavin Ward and Noah Anken each contributed scores of 89, while Rhys Ward rounded out the team scoring with a 90.

While the final score was not up to the team’s usual standard, Head Coach Matthew Helms emphasized that the tournament served as a solid measuring stick early in the season.

“It’s still early, and tournaments like this show us where we need to improve,” Helms said. “The conditions were tough, but it was good to see our guys compete and fight through it.”

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back and continue their early-season progress when they compete in the Bearcat Invitational on March 7 in Bainbridge.
