The Vidalia High School Indians baseball team had a busy, perfect week on the diamond. They picked up 4 consecutive victories to improve their early-season record to an unblemished 8- 0. vs. Appling

The action began on the road Monday against the Pirates of Appling County. It was primarily a pitcher's duel in the early going.

The Indians broke a scoreless tie in the top of the second inning and added another run in the top of the sixth to build a 3-0 lead.

The Pirates mounted a late rally in the bottom of the seventh, plating two runs. However, the Vidalia defense shut the door to secure a 3-2 victory. vs. S. Effingham

On Wednesday, the Indians traveled to take on the South Effingham Mustangs and had to fight back from an early deficit.

The Mustangs jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning and adding another in the second.

Vidalia’s offense sparked to life in the top of the third, cutting the lead in half with two runs.

The Indians then tied the game with two more runs in the fifth and took a 6-4 lead with a two-run sixth inning. They capped off the comeback with a final insurance run in the seventh to walk away with a 7-4 win. vs. Callaway

Returning home for the weekend, Vidalia continued their winning streak. On Friday, the Indians shut out the visiting Callaway Cavaliers with a clean 3-0 victory. vs. Heard Co.

The following day brought a much tighter contest as they hosted the Heard County Braves. In a hard-fought battle, the Indians managed to edge out the Braves for a narrow 7-6 win to close out the week.

The Indians look to maintain their momentum with another packed schedule of 5 games this week. The slate began with a road matchup at Wayne County on Monday, which concluded after presstime. Vidalia will be back in action at home on Thursday to face Appling County in a rematch at 5:45 p.m. Over the weekend, the team will travel to Cartersville for tournament play. They match up against Cherokee Bluff on Friday at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, they will face a doubleheader. They take on Redan at 10:00 a.m. and Kell at 12:30 p.m.
