Indians delivered a stunning offensive performance in the first quarter, pouring in 34 points to Toombs County’s 13. Tori Polke, Ze Rollins, and Henley Zachary fueled the early blitz. After a defensive second quarter where neither team scored, Vidalia took that 34-13 lead into the break. The offense reignited in the third, going on a 26-5 run highlighted by threepointers from Wardlaw and transition buckets from Auri Harris to cruise to the 67-32 victory.
The boys’ game was a grittier contest, but Vidalia completed the sweep with a 51-39 win. Rashad Brown and DJ Wallace sparked a 20-point first quarter to give the Indians an early eight-point cushion. Vidalia maintained a 37-27 advantage at halftime thanks to a late three-pointer from Brewton. The second half turned into a defensive struggle, with Vidalia holding the Bulldogs to just 12 total points after the break to secure the win. vs. Dodge County
The week ended on a sour note in Eastman as both teams fell to Dodge County. The Lady Indians lost a tight battle, 5045. After a 12-12 first quarter, Vidalia surged ahead in the second behind back-to-back threes from Auri Harris, taking a 24-18 lead into halftime. However, Dodge County rallied in the third to knot the score at 34-34. The fourth quarter was backand- forth, but despite late buckets from Rollins and Polke, Dodge County hit crucial free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
The boys struggled to overcome a slow start, falling 67-51. Dodge County’s offense was efficient early, building a 22-14 lead after one and extending it to a commanding 38-20 halftime advantage. The Indians found some offensive life in the second half, with Rashad Brown and Lyric McKennie attacking the rim, but they could not chip away significantly at the double-digit deficit. The loss splits the Indians' record for the week at 2- 1.
The Lady Indians are now 10-6 overall and they are 5-0 in Region play. The boys are 14-2 overall and they are 3-1 in the Region. This week the Indians hosted Savannah County Day on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back on the court on Friday when they host the Tigers of Swainsboro at 6:00 p.m.
