Fuel the Reindeer Reading Challenge Warms Up January at School

Students at Wheeler County Elementary School warmed up the winter season with books during January’s Fuel the Reindeer – Read Every Day reading challenge. The month-long program encouraged students to read daily while earning Accelerated Reader (AR) points to help “feed” a school reindeer and make it grow stronger throughout the winter.
Each time a student earned 5 AR points, they helped provide food for the reindeer, showing how reading every day builds strength. The more students read, the stronger the reindeer became, making reading both fun and rewarding.
Classes across all grade levels worked together to earn points, and friendly competition helped motivate students to keep reading. In grades 1–2, Copeland’s second grade class earned the top spot by accumulating the most AR points. For grades 3–5, Newsom’s fifth grade class led the way, showing outstanding teamwork and dedication to reading.
The Fuel the Reindeer challenge was a big success, keeping students engaged with books while promoting daily reading habits. Teachers and staff were proud of the effort shown by all students, and the school looks forward to continuing creative reading programs that inspire a love of literacy all year long.
