Crusaders Complete Grueling 4-Game Week

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders basketball teams faced a demanding schedule last week, hitting the hardwood for four games in six days. It was a successful stretch for the Lady Crusaders, who finished the week with a 3-1 record, while the boys split their contests to finish 2-2. The busy slate included road trips to Thomas Jefferson Academy and Frederica Academy, sandwiched around home games against Bulloch Academy and David Emanuel Academy.

RTCA vs. Thomas Jefferson The week began in Louisville as the Crusaders took on the Jaguars. The Lady Crusaders set the tone early, rolling to a dominant 60-18 victory.

The boys followed suit with a strong performance. RTCA held a narrow 12-10 lead after the first quarter but exploded in the second to take a 33-20 advantage into the locker room. They continued to pour it on in the third, extending the lead to 56-31 before closing out the game with a 69-42 win.

RTCA vs. Bulloch

Back at home on Thursday, the Lady Crusaders kept their momentum going against the Gators, securing a solid 53-33 win.

The boys’ game proved to be a tighter contest early on. The score was knotted at 16-16 after the first quarter, but Bulloch Academy seized control in the second, pulling away to lead 36-24 at halftime. RTCA fought back in the third to cut the deficit to 50-41 but could not complete the comeback, falling 65-52.

RTCA vs. DEA

The Crusaders were back on their home court Friday night to host the Eagles of DEA. The Lady Crusaders notched their third win of the week with a 63-47 victory.

The boys bounced back from Thursday’s loss in a big way, cruising to an easy 61-29 win over the Eagles.

RTCA vs. Frederica The week concluded on St. Simons Island against the Knights of Frederica Academy. Fatigue may have set in for the Lady Crusaders, who were outmatched by the Lady Knights in a 60-20 loss.

The boys also faced a tough challenge. Despite a bright spot from Drew Edwards, who led the team with 17 points, the Crusaders fell to the Knights 52-38.

The Lady Crusaders are 9-6 on the season and the boys are 8-6. This week will be much easier on the Crusaders as they have just one game scheduled. They will travel to take on Pinewood Christian Academy on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
