In a challenging road game, the Brewton-Parker Christian University Lady Barons basketball team opened conference play with a loss to the Life University Running Eagles. The Eagles dominated inside the Eagles’ Nest on November 22, to give the Lady Barons their seventh loss of the year and first conference loss of the season.

The Lady Barons struggled as a team shooting the ball, finishing with a 34.5% field goal percentage. Despite their best efforts, the Lady Barons found themselves down 40-24 at the half. The second half saw the Running Eagles continue to apply the pressure and ended the game 85-54. Jasmine Leynard led the team in points, dropping 12 with six rebounds and two assists.

Head Coach Steve Edwards shared his thoughts following the loss. “We have to get a lot better, and we have to get connected as a group. We had a great week of preparation and practice. For some reason, we haven’t learned how to compete through mistakes. I will figure out a way to get through to this group. It’s a process, and we will figure it out.”

The Lady Barons are set to take on College of Coastal Georgia on November 29, on the road, where they look to regroup over the Thanksgiving break.
