Christmas lights and cheer will soon be filling the air as several cities within the area host their annual Christmas Tree Lightings to kick off the holiday season.

The City of Soperton will celebrate the season first, as their annual Christmas Tree Lighting begins at 4 p.m. in Downtown Soperton on Saturday, November 29. The free event will run until 6:30 p.m., and will feature vendors, music, a visit from Santa Claus, and a ceremony to officially declare the beginning of Christmas.

The City of Alston will also officially light their Christmas tree at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, at the iconic red caboose that sits at the corner of West Broad and First Streets. This event is free, and will feature music and a visit from Santa Claus.

The City of Vidalia will kick off the Christmas season at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, during the annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Ronnie A. Dixon City Park. The free event features music, hot cocoa, a toy drop, a visit from Santa Claus and more.

These events will help to get the community in the Christmas spirit, as more chances to come together during festivities will be announced in the coming weeks.
