Girls

It was a clean sweep in the first round of the Georgia High School Association State Tournament for the Bulldogs on April 21, at The Pit.

The girls opened the evening with a 4–0 victory over Dodge County. Freshman Kanijah Toby led the way with a hat trick, while Emerson Powell added another goal. The defense delivered a strong performance, limiting Dodge County’s scoring opportunities throughout the match.

Boys

In the boys’ game, it took nearly 60 minutes to break the scoreless tie against Bleckley County, but Juan Luna ultimately found the back of the net. Just minutes later, Jeffery Perez extended the lead. The defense held firm to preserve the shutout and secure a 2–0 win. Both teams will advance to the second round next week. With this victory, the girls have advanced to the Sweet 16 or beyond in the State Tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The boys have now reached the Sweet 16 or beyond for the third straight year.

Up next for the Lady Bulldogs were the Lady Yellow Jackets of Jeff Davis. Toombs traveled to Hazlehurst on Tuesday of this week after presstime. If the Lady Bulldogs won that game they will play next Monday against the winner of the Model vs. Woodville-Tompkins game. The boys will play on Wednesday of this week at home against Jasper County at 6:00 p.m.
