Bowden Over Eagles In 1st Round

The Montgomery County High School Eagles were in the first round of the GHSA State Baseball Playoffs last week as they took on the Red Devils of Bowden. It was a tough go for the Eagles against a potent Bowden lineup, as they were run-ruled in both games to see their season come to an abrupt end. The team finished the year with an 8-17 record.

Game 1

In the first game of the best-of-three series, Bowden's pitching controlled the afternoon and threw a no-hitter as they rolled to a win. The Red Devils jumped out with 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning, and they added four more in the second to take the win, 17- 0.

Game 2

In the second game, the Eagles looked to put up a fight, but Bowden kept the offensive pressure on. Bowden picked up three runs in the top of the first inning and scored three more in the second to take an early 6-0 lead. The Red Devils then plated six in the third inning to push the lead to 12-0, and capped off the game with 10 runs in the top of the fourth inning, taking the win, 22-0. MCHS did manage to break through and get a hit in the second game, with Matthew Harvey picking it up to provide an offensive spark.

The series loss ends the season for MCHS, officially closing the book on their spring campaign.
