Wheeler Drops Tough Road Matchups

The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs baseball team fell to the Indians of Dodge County on Monday and struggled again Wednesday against the Panthers of Clinch County. vs. Dodge Co.

In the 13-3 loss at Dodge, Wheeler’s thirdinning rally— highlighted by a two-RBI hit from Landyn Horne—cut an early six-run deficit in half. However, the Indians immediately responded with seven unanswered runs to seal the game in four innings. vs. Clinch Co.

Against Clinch County, Rhett McCranie gave the Bulldogs a brief 1-0 lead in the first, but the Panthers countered with five runs in the bottom half of the frame. A massive nine-run third inning eventually put the game out of reach, resulting in an 18-2 run-rule defeat for Wheeler.

Now 6-12 overall and 5-5 in Region play, the Bulldogs took on Twiggs Co. on Monday and Montgomery Co. on Tuesday after presstime. They will play Montgomery Co. on Friday on the road at 5:30 p.m.
