It was a busy week on the road for Montgomery County High School soccer, with both the boys' and girls' squads on the road for matchups against Wheeler County on Tuesday and Treutlen on Friday. Road games are always a good test of a team's legs and focus, and the Eagles handled the travel well to bring home some important region results.

Girls vs. Wheeler

The week started Tuesday against the Wheeler County Bulldogs. The Lady Eagles didn't waste any time finding their rhythm, taking over the game to roll to a convincing 7-1 victory. Zoe Jordan led the charge with a quick three goals. Tamarley Hansley added two of her own, while Carla Santiago and Cristal Santiago each found the back of the net to round out the scoring.

Boys vs. Wheeler

The boys’ matchup was a much tighter battle. The Eagles played hard but came up just short, dropping a narrow 2-1 decision to the Bulldogs. Abisael Mezquitila provided the lone goal to keep Montgomery County in the fight.

Girls vs. Treutlen Friday brought another bus ride, this time to face the Treutlen Vikings. The Lady Eagles kept their momentum rolling, securing a solid 3-1 win over the Lady Vikings. Cristal Santiago stepped up with a pair of goals for MCHS, and Carla Santiago added the third to seal the victory.

Boys vs. Treutlen

The most dramatic finish of the week, though, belonged to the boys. After battling to a scoreless tie through a grueling regulation and overtime, the game went to a shootout. The Eagles kept their composure under pressure, edging out Treutlen 3-2 to get back in the win column. Issak Sistrunk, Ramone Garcia, and Emory Robertson each stepped up to the spot and delivered clutch goals to earn the hard-fought win.

Following the road trip, the Lady Eagles are looking dangerous at 7-3 on the season and an impressive 5-1 in Region play. The boys showed a lot of grit bouncing back for that Friday win, bringing their overall record to a winning 5-4 and 2-3 in the Region.
