Lady Crusaders Over FPCA
The Robert Toombs Christian Academy soccer teams had a busy late-week stretch at home, taking on First Preparatory Christian Academy on Thursday before turning right around to face Central Fellowship Christian Academy on Friday. The lone win of the two-day stint belonged to the Lady Crusaders, who picked up a solid 5-3 victory over FPCA.
Girls vs. FPCA
Senior Madaline Wolfe led the offense in Thursday's win, netting two goals and picking up an assist. The scoring was spread out well, with senior Alayna Wimpey, junior Kailen Brantley, and freshman Mattie Palma each finding the back of the net. Goalkeeper Mary Frances Stanley helped lock the game down with six saves.
Girls vs. CFCA
Friday was a tougher draw, as the girls dropped a 5-1 contest to CFCA. The Lady Lancers jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead, and while Wolfe managed to get RTCA on the board in the second half, CFCA kept their foot on the gas.
Boys vs. FPCA
On the boys' side, RTCA took a 2-0 loss against FPCA on Thursday. Sophomore keeper Tay Franklin did his part to keep the Crusaders in it, racking up 10 saves. Seniors Hayden Meeks, Alex Delgado, and Blake Durden generated some good looks on goal but just couldn't get anything past the keeper.
Boys vs. CFCA
Friday was a rough outing from the jump, with the boys taking a 10-0 loss to a dominant CFCA squad.
Following the week's matchups, the Lady Crusaders sit at 2-2 on the season, while the boys are at 1-3. Both squads hosted Covenant Academy on Monday, and the girls welcomed Windsor Academy on Tuesday. Results for those games were not available at presstime.
