BPC Flag Football Drops 2

The Brewton-Parker Christian University Lady Barons flag football team played 2 games last week as they took on the #2 ranked Keiser University Lady Seahawks and the Lady Bobcats of St. Thomas University. vs. Keiser The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons flag football team hosted the #2 Keiser University Seahawks on March 18, in Mount Vernon. The Barons were unable to stop the Seahawks' dominant offense, dropping the game 34-12.

The Seahawks started the game with a four-minute touchdown drive, powered by their quarterback's dominant play. The Barons’ defense answered on the point after attempt, breaking it up to keep the game at 6-0. The Barons came out humming on offense and responded with a touchdown drive behind the dominant running of Keshauna Gusby, who drove the Barons downfield, taking up nearly the remainder of the time in the first quarter. Gusby found D’nAsia Leonard-Potts with just under two minutes remaining in the quarter to tie the game at six. The Barons failed to convert their twopoint attempt, and the Seahawks intercepted and returned the ball for two points, taking an 8-6 lead.

The Seahawks took the ball in the second quarter and scored on a fourteenplay drive and convert the extra point to take a 15-6 lead. Keiser again scored after a defensive stop just before halftime to go up 22-6 at the break. After halftime, the Seahawks got an early stop and converted on their next drive to make it 28-6, and were stopped on a twopoint conversion by Sophia Souza, who sacked the quarterback. The Barons then traded chances until late in the fourth quarter, when they scored a rushing touchdown thanks to SeAnna Johnson but failed to get the two-point conversion, cutting the lead to 28-12. The Seahawks used the final two minutes of the game to score one last time to seal it and take the victory.

The Barons will be back in action on March 19, 2026, in Mount Vernon, when they host St. Thomas University for another Sun Conference clash. vs. St. Thomas

The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons flag foot-ball team hosted the Bobcats of St. Thomas University on March 19. The Barons had a strong defensive showing but were unable to generate any offense, getting shut out 13-0.

The Barons’ defense shut down the Bobcats’ offense early in the game, preventing them from scoring early, but an interception in the second quarter gave the Bobcats a short field. The Bobcats wasted no time capitalizing on the Barons’ miscue and scoring the opening score of the game with just over eight minutes left in the second quarter to take a 6-0 lead after a missed one-point try. Both teams traded chances and showed out defensively until the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats once again inherited a short field and quickly went to work, taking four minutes to engineer their second scoring drive of the day and converted the one-point try to go up 13-0. The Bobcats’ second touchdown of the day proved to be too much for the Barons’ offense to overcome, as they did their best to drive down the field but were unable to get in the endzone, ending the game with the Bobcats in victory formation.

The Barons will look to bounce back on March 21, 2026, when they host the Lions of Florida Memorial for another Sun Conference showdown.
