Vikings Soccer Drop Tough Matches

The Treutlen County High School Vikings soccer teams faced a challenging homestand last week, with both the boys' and girls' squads falling to the visiting Georgia Military College Bulldogs.

Grils vs. GMC

The Lady Vikings battled in a tightly contested matchup but ultimately came up just short, dropping a 3-2 decision to GMC. Maya Brinson and AdaLynn Long provided the offensive spark for Treutlen, each finding the back of the net during the hard-fought game. Despite the narrow loss, the Lady Vikings maintain a strong 6-3 overall record and sit at a solid 3-1 in Region play.

Boys vs. GMC

In the boys' contest, the Bulldogs established dominance early and ran away with a 9-2 victory over the Vikings. GMC's explosive offense generated a commanding 7-0 lead by halftime, keeping the Vikings completely off the board. Treutlen found their footing after the break, playing GMC to a 2-2 tie in the second half, but the early deficit proved too large to overcome. The Treutlen boys now stand at 2-7 on the year and 1-3 in the Region.

Looking ahead, the Vikings traveled to face East Laurens on Tuesday, with results unavailable at presstime. The Lady Vikings will return home to host Johnson County this Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Both the boys' and girls' teams will close out the week in front of their home crowd on Friday, welcoming Montgomery County to town for matchups beginning at 5:00 p.m.
