The Robert Toombs Christian Academy soccer season kicked off this past week with a tough road test in Dublin at Trinity Christian followed by a triumphant cross-town region matchup in Vidalia against Vidalia Heritage Academy. vs. Trinity

The week began on Tuesday with a difficult outing against a very tough Trinity Christian squad. The Lady Crusaders fell 4-0, with Trinity scoring two goals in each half. In the boys' matchup, RTCA senior Hayden Meeks found the back of the net in both halves, but Trinity's high-powered offense proved too much, netting five goals per half to take a 10-2 victory over the Crusaders.

Girls vs. Heritage

RTCA bounced back on Thursday to close out the week with a pair of great region wins over cross-town rival Vidalia Heritage Academy. Taking the field for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff, the Lady Crusaders' 16-member roster was missing senior center midfielder Madaline Wolfe. The team didn't let that stop them from playing hard, utilizing great ball distribution to get several members involved in the offensive attack. Five different players secured goals in the 5-2 victory: freshmen Meeghan Wolfe, Braylin Pittman, and Mattie Palma, senior Alayna Wimpey, and junior Kailen Brantley. Freshman Addison Botelho anchored the offense by leading the team with three assists on the night.

Boys vs. Heritage

Looking to make a statement after their earlyweek loss, the Crusaders men’s team followed up with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff against the VHA Eagles. RTCA jumped out strong with two quick goals before the Eagles' defense became an impenetrable wall, holding the score at 2-0 going into halftime. Following some tactical formation adjustments at the break, the Crusaders broke through for three more goals in the second half to earn a big 5-0 win. Senior Hayden Meeks and junior Zane Fritz-Bryan collected two goals each, while senior Blake Durden secured one. The attack saw great teamwork, with freshman Heath Meeks, senior Alex Delgado, senior Grayson Smesny, and freshman Blake Owens all earning assists in the contest.

The Crusaders look to carry this momentum into two home region contests this week. They will host FPCA on Thursday starting at 5:00 p.m., followed by a matchup against Central Fellowship Christian Academy on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
