Nextdoor Names Vidalia Friendliest City in Georgia

The Nextdoor app has named Vidalia the Friendliest City to Live In Georgia, ranking it above Tybee Island, Eatonton, and even Marietta.

Nextdoor is a website and app that helps community members to stay informed about their neighborhoods, as it provides local news, safety alerts, neighbor recommendations, sales listings, and local events. The program seeks to make every neighborhood feel like home by connecting people, places, and information.

This year, Nextdoor reviewed neighbor interactions on the app in neighborhoods across Georgia and the United States to give each neighborhood a “friendliness score.” Some aspects of interactions that went into this score include the tone of neighbor posts, how often requests for help or recommendations were fulfilled, how many items were shared for free, how new neighbors were welcomed, and whether residents actively supported local businesses.

Vidalia received a “100” score for friendliness, making it the highest ranked city in the state, as Tybee Island followed closely behind, as it received a “93” for friendliness.

Other rankings were also shared, as Vidalia earned a 71 out of 100 for safety and a 91 out of 100 for affordability.
