The Vidalia High School track and field teams delivered an impressive performance Friday, March 6, at the Anderson Bentley Invitational, with both the boys and girls teams finishing second overall behind East Coweta High School.

The Vidalia boys scored 134 points to finish runner-up behind East Coweta’s 161 points, while Baldwin High School placed third with 94 points. The Lady Indians also turned in a strong showing, finishing second with 151 points, just behind East Coweta’s 158 points. Evans High School placed third in the girls standings with 102 points.

Jackson Leads Dominant Sprint Performances Leading the way for the Indians was Andre Jackson, who earned the High Point Award after sweeping the sprint events. Jackson captured first place in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, and was also a member of the winning 4×100-meter and 4×200-meter relay teams.

Jackson teamed with Jaydyn Young, Jamarion Lanier and Tyler to win the 4×100 relay, and the same group returned to win the 4×200 relay, breaking the school record by more than a second in the process.

Strong Distance and Hurdle Performances Cash Driggers also had an outstanding day for Vidalia, winning the 800 meters while adding a second- place finish in the 1600 meters. Driggers also ran on the 4×800 relay team alongside Jamarcus Bouyer, Simon Collins and Greg Taylor, where the group placed second.

Jaydyn Young set a personal best of 14.42 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, narrowly missing the school record. Young also added a third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.

Simon Collins contributed additional points for the Indians with a third-place finish in the 3200 meters.

Lady Indians Dominate Relays The Vidalia girls were particularly strong in the relay events. The 4×100 relay team of Kayden Love, Zenobia Rollins, Dreshiya Jackson and J’Miyah Hunt claimed first place. The Lady Indians followed that performance with another win in the 4×200 relay, as Kayden Love, Samyri Dixon, Dreshiya Jackson and J’Miyah Hunt continued their dominance.

Vidalia also captured first place in the 4×800 relay, with Emilynn Campbell, Emily Kicklighter, Elizabeth Sowell and Judith Hussey combining for the victory.

Field Event and Individual Highlights Dreshiya Jackson delivered an outstanding day in the field events, winning the long jump and finishing second in the triple jump.

Saniyah Hunt added points in the throws with a third-place finish in the shot put.

Judith Hussey ran a personal best in the 1600 meters, finishing third overall, while J’Miyah Hunt placed second in the 200 meters and third in the 100 meters.
