VHA Lady Eagles Win Shootout

The Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles soccer teams faced a challenging road stretch this past week. They traveled to the First Preparatory Christian Academy Highlanders on Monday before taking on the Covenant Academy Rams on Tuesday. The sole victory of the week belonged to the Lady Eagles in a thrilling finish against the Lady Rams.

Girls vs. FPCA

The week opened with a tough outing at FPCA. In the girls' matchup, the Highlanders built a commanding lead with four goals in the first half and added one more in the second to secure a 5-0 win.

Boys vs. FPCA

The boys' team was similarly outmatched by the Highlanders, dropping their Monday game 8-0.

Girls vs. Covenant

Tuesday brought tighter competition against Covenant Academy. The Lady Eagles battled to a scoreless tie in the first half before Sarah Grace Todd found the back of the net in the second. The Lady Rams answered with a goal of their own to force overtime.

In the resulting shootout, Heritage clinched the victory with two goals to Covenant's one. VHA goalkeeper Libby Clark delivered a stellar performance, recording 16 saves while allowing just the single regulation goal.

Boys vs. Covenant

On the boys' side against Covenant, the Rams held a 2-0 advantage at halftime. The Eagles fought back in the second half behind two goals from Thomas Betsill, but Covenant managed to squeeze in one more to take the close contest 3-2.

Looking ahead, VHA will look to bounce back at home as they host Robert Toombs Christian Academy this Thursday, with the first game kicking off at 4:00 p.m.
