Tough Week For Wheeler

The Wheeler County High School Bulldogs baseball team faced a challenging week on the diamond. They lost to rival Treutlen County at home on Tuesday and dropped another home game to Dodge County on Thursday. vs. Treutlen Co.

The Vikings of Treutlen County ran away with a win over Wheeler in Alamo on Tuesday. Treutlen jumped out with six runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead.

Wheeler plated a run in the bottom of the first inning, but that was their only run of the game.

The Vikings added two runs in the top of the second inning. They then closed the game out with eight more runs in the top of the third inning to win the game by the run rule, 16-1. vs. Dodge Co.

On Thursday against the Indians of Dodge County, the result was similar. Dodge put six runs on the board in the top of the first inning and added two more in the second to take an 8-0 lead.

The Indians scored three more runs in the third inning to push their lead to 11-0.

Wheeler finally got two runs in the bottom of the third to make the score 112. However, Dodge answered with six more runs in the top of the fourth inning to secure the win, 17-2.

Looking Ahead

This week is a busy week for the Bulldogs. On Monday, the Bulldogs played Telfair County on the road and then hosted Wilcox County on Tuesday, with both games concluding after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday at Atkinson County at 5:30 p.m. and will wrap up the week on the road at Wilcox County on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
